Useful Scripts in CS2 - Full Guide

My collection of working CS2 scripts: drop bomb, quick knife, volume on walk, viewmodel toggle, telemetry, jump throw and practice scripts, with notes on where each one works after August 2024

In Counter-Strike 2 every second can decide a round, and scripts take a lot of routine off your hands. A bind puts a command on a key, a script goes further: it combines actions, switches modes and remembers states, all with the game's own console.

CS2 kept the alias scripting from CS 1.6 and CS:GO, but since August 2024 Valve blocks binds that pack several movement or attack actions into one key. Some classics died, most useful scripts still work. Below is my collection with a clear note for each one: works everywhere, only on your own server, or gray area. After that, how alias works and how to load scripts.

Best CS2 Scripts at a Glance

Script What it does Key Where it works
Short aliases qq to quit, dd to disconnect console Everywhere
Telemetry FPS, ping and network graphs while you hold a key J Everywhere
Drop bomb Drops the C4 without switching to it first N Everywhere
Quick knife Pulls the knife and attacks K Everywhere
Volume on walk Louder footsteps while you walk Shift Everywhere
Quick rotate Fast 180-degree turn L Everywhere
Viewmodel toggle Two weapon positions on one key O Everywhere
Single fire / fire mode One shot per press, or a mouse1 mode switch P / F2 Test first
Jump throw (new) One-key jump throw via mouse axes Mouse5 Gray area
Jump throw (classic) +jump; -attack on one key Mouse5 Own server only
Wallhack boxes Boxes around players through walls F1 Own server only

I spread the scripts over keys that are free in CS2 by default, so you can load them all together without conflicts. Change the keys to your taste, just check what you overwrite: C and V are radio, X is the healthshot and X-Ray, F is inspect, G is drop, B is the buy menu.

Everyday CS2 Scripts

Short Console Aliases

Small, but you use them every day. qq instead of quit, dd instead of disconnect.

alias "qq" "quit"
alias "dd" "disconnect"

Telemetry Script

Hold J to see FPS, ping, packet loss and the network graph, release to hide them. On release everything goes back to the defaults, so the game still warns you when FPS or ping get bad.

alias "+stats" "cl_hud_telemetry_frametime_show 2; cl_hud_telemetry_ping_show 2; cl_hud_telemetry_net_misdelivery_show 2; cl_hud_telemetry_net_detailed 2; cl_hud_telemetry_net_quality_graph_show 2"
alias "-stats" "cl_hud_telemetry_frametime_show 1; cl_hud_telemetry_ping_show 1; cl_hud_telemetry_net_misdelivery_show 1; cl_hud_telemetry_net_detailed 0; cl_hud_telemetry_net_quality_graph_show 0"
bind "j" "+stats"

A TAB version and toggles are in custom telemetry scripts.

Drop Bomb Script

Drops the C4 in one press, without switching to it by hand first. Handy when the team needs the bomb on the other side right now.

alias "+dropbomb" "slot5"
alias "-dropbomb" "drop"
bind "n" "+dropbomb"

Pressing N takes out the bomb, releasing it drops the bomb. After that the game switches you back to a weapon by itself.

Quick Knife Script

A press-and-release script: the knife comes out and attacks while you hold the key.

alias "+knife" "slot3; +attack"
alias "-knife" "-attack; lastinv"
bind "k" "+knife"

slot3 is the knife, +attack stabs while you hold K. On release the attack stops and lastinv brings back the weapon you had before. Want the pistol instead? Replace lastinv with slot2.

Volume on Walk Script

Turns the game volume up while you walk. Good for clutches, when every footstep counts.

alias "+walkloud" "volume 1; +sprint"
alias "-walkloud" "volume 0.5; -sprint"
bind "shift" "+walkloud"

In CS2 walking is +sprint, that's the default Shift action. Put your normal volume into -walkloud instead of 0.5, otherwise it ends up quieter than usual. It's one movement command plus a setting, so the August 2024 filter doesn't touch it.

Quick Rotate Script

A fast 180-degree turn: while you hold the key, horizontal sensitivity goes way up.

alias "+rot" "sensitivity 5; m_yaw 0.5"
alias "-rot" "sensitivity 2.2; m_yaw 0.022"
bind "l" "+rot"

Put your own sensitivity in -rot, and keep m_yaw 0.022, that's the default. Practice a bit first, a small mouse move is a huge turn while you hold the key.

Viewmodel Position Toggle Script

Two weapon positions on one key: for example a compact one for matches and a wide one for practice or videos. As a bonus it switches the top team counter between avatars and player count.

alias "regular_view" "cl_teamcounter_playercount_instead_of_avatars 0; viewmodel_offset_x -2; viewmodel_offset_y 2; viewmodel_offset_z -2; alias trigger_view adv_view"
alias "adv_view" "cl_teamcounter_playercount_instead_of_avatars 1; viewmodel_offset_x 2.5; viewmodel_offset_y 0; viewmodel_offset_z -1.5; alias trigger_view regular_view"
alias "trigger_view" "adv_view"
bind "o" "trigger_view"

The ranges from the game files:

Setting What it moves Range Default
viewmodel_offset_x Left / right -2 to 2.5 1
viewmodel_offset_y Back / forward -2 to 2 1
viewmodel_offset_z Down / up -2 to 2 -1
viewmodel_fov How big the weapon looks 60 to 68 60

A higher FOV makes the weapon smaller and gives you more screen, a closer setup keeps your eyes on the crosshair. More about hands and viewmodel in how to switch weapon hand in CS2.

Shooting Scripts: Single Fire and Fire Mode Toggle

One note first. Both scripts have +attack and -attack in the same chain. Since August 2024 the game ignores binds with more than one movement or attack command on official servers, and these are right on that line. Test them in an offline match first. If the key does nothing, that's the filter.

Single Fire Script

One shot per press, no accidental spray. Useful to drill controlled tapping.

alias "+snp" "alias fire +attack"
alias "-snp" "fire"
bind "p" "+snp; -attack"

Works on any key you like: P, Alt, Mouse3 and so on.

Single / Auto Fire Toggle Script

Switches mouse1 between single shots and normal full auto, with the weapon mode sounds as feedback.

alias "one_shot" "+attack; -attack"
alias "trigger_mode" "single_fire"
alias "single_fire" "bind mouse1 one_shot; -attack; alias trigger_mode regular_fire; play weapons\auto_semiauto_switch_01"
alias "regular_fire" "bind mouse1 +attack; alias trigger_mode single_fire; play weapons\auto_semiauto_switch_02"
bind "F2" "trigger_mode"

Press F2 for single fire, again for full auto. The same toggle idea with sounds is used in my AK-47 anti-recoil training script.

CS2 Jump Throw Scripts

New Jump Throw Script (Mouse Axis)

The classic jump throw died in August 2024. This version goes around the filter with mouse axis rebinding: every alias has only one movement or attack command, and the second action fires on a tiny mouse movement.

alias "rst_mouse_y" "bind mouse_y pitch"
alias "at" "+attack; bind mouse_y rst_mouse_y"
alias "rst_mouse_x" "bind mouse_x yaw"
alias "rst" "rst_mouse_x; -jump"
alias "+jt" "+jump; bind mouse_y at"
alias "-jt" "-attack; bind mouse_x rst"
bind "mouse5" "+jt"

It works on official servers, but it's a gray area: Valve said automating several actions from one input may get you kicked, and this script does exactly that by a workaround. How it works step by step and the alternatives without a script: CS2 jump throw bind.

Classic Jump Throw Script

alias "+jumpthrow" "+jump; -attack"
alias "-jumpthrow" "-jump"
bind "mouse5" "+jumpthrow"

Hold the grenade with the left button and press the key: jump and release in the same moment. This only works with cl_allow_multi_input_binds 1, and that setting is cheat-protected. So it's for your own server with sv_cheats 1, for example to practice lineups.

CS2 Practice Scripts

On your own server one alias can switch on whatever you need: noclip, infinite ammo, grenade trails, wallhack boxes. Less typing, more repetitions.

Wallhack Boxes Script

Draws boxes around players and objects, visible through walls. Great for studying positions, angles and movement paths. Works only with sv_cheats 1.

alias "toggle_boxes" "boxes_on"
alias "boxes_on" "sv_cheats 1; cl_ent_bbox *; alias toggle_boxes boxes_off"
alias "boxes_off" "cl_ent_clear_debug_overlays; sv_cheats 0; alias toggle_boxes boxes_on"
bind "F1" "toggle_boxes"

Older versions of this guide also had a "wallhack numbers" script with cl_player_proximity_debug. Valve removed that command in April 2026, so it doesn't work anymore. All working options are in legal wallhack scripts.

Grenade Practice Script

alias "nadeprac" "sv_cheats 1; sv_infinite_ammo 1; ammo_grenade_limit_total 5; sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_pipreview 1; sv_grenade_trajectory_prac_trailtime 4; echo Nade practice on"
bind "F9" "nadeprac"
bind "kp_enter" "sv_rethrow_last_grenade"

F9 turns on infinite nades, the landing preview and trails, numpad Enter throws your last grenade again. Details in grenade binds.

What Are Scripts in CS2 and How Does Alias Work?

The script types Cycle Scripts, Press and Release Scripts and Meta Scripts glowing in a nebula

A script is a set of console commands tied to a key or an event. A bind just runs one command or a short chain, a script can switch states, toggle and remember what happened before. The tool for that is alias: you give a command a name and a job, and then use it like any built-in command.

Press and Release Scripts

The quick knife above is a typical one. An alias with + runs when you press the key, the one with - when you let go.

Toggle Scripts

alias "fps_on" "cl_showfps 1; alias fps_toggle fps_off"
alias "fps_off" "cl_showfps 0; alias fps_toggle fps_on"
alias "fps_toggle" "fps_on"
bind "j" "fps_toggle"

fps_on turns the counter on and points the toggle to fps_off, fps_off does the opposite, the third line sets the start state, the bind puts it on J. Simple here, but the same idea builds whole systems, like the viewmodel or fire mode toggles above. More script types in my CS2 scripting guide.

Are Scripts Safe?

Yes. Aliases, binds, toggle and incrementvar are part of the game, VAC looks for third-party software, not for configs. The rule among experienced players: configs are fine, third-party programs are not. Some leagues and private servers have their own rules, check them if you play outside of Valve matchmaking.

What Changed in August 2024

In July 2024 Razer released Snap Tap for its keyboards: hold A and D, and the keyboard only counts the last key, so counter-strafing gets done for you. On August 19, 2024 Valve answered: automation of core skills by scripts or hardware is not allowed anymore. In practice:

Blocked

Binds and aliases with more than one movement or attack command, like +jump; -attack or +jump; +duck. Snap Tap style hardware gets you kicked.

Still fine

toggle, incrementvar, alias chains with settings, buy binds, HUD, telemetry and viewmodel scripts.

How to Add and Load Scripts in CS2

You can paste scripts into the console. CS2 saves the binds by itself, but aliases are gone after a restart, so the bind would point to nothing. That's why scripts belong in .cfg files.

autoexec.cfg

File explorer showing the path to autoexec.cfg in Counter-Strike 2 under game, csgo, cfg
autoexec.cfg lives in game\csgo\cfg

CS2 runs autoexec.cfg by itself on every start. It doesn't exist by default, create it:

  1. Open ...\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Global Offensive\game\csgo\cfg\.
  2. Create autoexec.txt and rename it to autoexec.cfg (turn on file extensions in Explorer if you don't see them).
  3. Paste your scripts, save.

Separate Config, Loaded by Hand

Want different setups, for example practice and matches? Make practice.cfg in the same folder and load it with exec practice in the console, any time, even in the middle of a game.

Separate Config, Loaded on Start

Running a config from the Steam launch options

In Steam: right click Counter-Strike 2, Properties, General, Launch Options, add +exec myconfig. More in my CS2 config guide.

Practical Tips

  • Keep configs clean. Split scripts into match, practice and experimental files and load only what you need.
  • Comment your scripts. +jt and +rot are fine names, but a // jump throw line helps when you open the file months later.
  • Test after updates. Valve patches sometimes break old tricks. Check your scripts on an offline map after a big update.
  • Back up your files. Keep a copy of autoexec.cfg and your configs somewhere safe, a reinstall wipes the cfg folder.

Conclusion

Scripts in Counter-Strike 2 don't play for you, they remove routine. Drop the bomb in one press, hear footsteps better while walking, switch viewmodels, check your connection on a key, set up a practice session in one line. Most of that works everywhere. Since August 2024 the line is simple: one movement or attack action per key. Scripts that cross it either don't work on official servers or sit in a gray area, so keep those for your own server.

CS2 Scripts FAQ

Are scripts allowed in CS2?

Yes. Scripts made with the console, binds, aliases and .cfg files are part of the game and VAC doesn't ban for them. The limit since August 2024: no more than one movement or attack command per bind.

Can I get banned for a jump throw script?

Not by VAC, it's a normal config. The classic version simply doesn't work on official servers anymore. The new mouse axis version works, but Valve may kick for automating several actions from one input, so it's a gray area.

Where do I put my CS2 scripts?

In .cfg files in ...\game\csgo\cfg\. Most people use autoexec.cfg, which CS2 runs on every start.

Why does my script stop working after a restart?

The bind was saved, the alias wasn't. Put the script into autoexec.cfg or load your config again.

What's the difference between binds and scripts?

A bind is a shortcut: a key and one or a few commands. A script uses alias to add toggles, modes and states, like a small program.

Do scripts work on FACEIT?

Console scripts like viewmodel toggles, telemetry or volume tweaks work. For anything that touches movement or shooting, check the platform rules first.

Can I use any script on a private server with friends?

Yes, on your own local or dedicated server everything works. Cheat commands need sv_cheats 1, which the host or admin has to turn on.

Which scripts are best for beginners?

Start with quality of life: dd for disconnect, the telemetry or FPS toggle, volume on walk and drop bomb. Easy to set up and useful in every match.

How do I back up my scripts?

Copy autoexec.cfg and your custom .cfg files to a cloud folder or a USB stick. After a reinstall, copy them back into the cfg folder.
