The world position next to each team is its place in the Valve Regional Standings — the ranking Valve publishes itself and uses to hand out Major invites, so it is the closest thing Counter-Strike has to an official table. It ranks a specific five rather than an organisation, which is why a roster change resets a team's position. Every team page carries the date of the snapshot its number came from, because a rank with no date attached says very little.
