Razer Synapse Dashboard introducing Synapse 4 and Chroma App

Razer Synapse 3 to Synapse 4 Macro Converter

Turn Synapse 3 macro files into Synapse 4 macros: one file or a whole folder at once, free.

Razer retired Synapse 3 in February 2026, and Synapse 4 won't open the .xml macros you exported from it. Razer has no converter for these files, so I made one.

Drop your files below and press Convert. Every macro comes back as a Synapse 4 file, ready to import, with a short report on what was converted and what needs a look.

Up to 50 files and 5 MB at a time. Your originals are not touched. Converted files get the _Synapse4.xml suffix. Errors and warnings are listed per file.

When You Need This Converter

The cases Synapse 4 doesn't cover on its own

Synapse 4 has a Profile Migration tool, but it only works during the upgrade, on a PC that still has Synapse 3 and its data. Everything else ends up here:

Synapse 3 is gone
A new PC, a clean Windows install, or Synapse 4 replaced Synapse 3 by itself. There is nothing left to migrate.
Only .xml files left
You exported your macros from Synapse 3 at some point, or got them from a friend or a forum. Synapse 4 has no way to read them.
Migrated macros don't work
Plenty of people on Razer Insider write about macros that are broken or missing after Profile Migration. Convert the original .xml instead.

How It Works

Three steps, one file or a whole folder

  1. Drop your Synapse 3 .xml files on the box at the top of the page, or pick them. A whole folder works too, subfolders included.
  2. Leave Add [S4] to the macro name on if you want to tell the converted macros from the old ones in Synapse 4. Press Convert.
  3. Download each file from the table, or everything at once with Download all (ZIP) . The ZIP also has conversion_report.csv with every file, its status and the number of events.

Every event is checked field by field. If a file has something the converter doesn't know, it is not converted half-way: the table shows which event stopped it and why. Your original files stay as they are, the converted ones get _Synapse4.xml at the end of the name.

How to Import Into Synapse 4

The converted file goes into Macro, not into profiles

  1. Open Synapse 4 and go to Macro.
  2. Open the ⋯ menu and choose Import.
  3. Pick the converted _Synapse4.xml file. The macro shows up in the list, with [S4] at the end of the name if you left that option on.

Don't use the profile import (.synapse4 files). That one is for whole profiles and won't take a macro file.

I checked the output against macros that Synapse 4 saves itself, and the files match. Last checked with Synapse 4 SYNAPSE_VERSION.

What's Supported

What a Synapse 3 macro can contain and what happens to it

Mouse clicks
All five mouse buttons Synapse 3 records, presses and releases, with the delays between them. Any button other than the left one gets a note to check it in Synapse 4.
Mouse movement
Every recorded point with its X, Y and time, so the path and the speed stay the same.
Keyboard keys
Presses and releases with their delays. These macros get a note to check them in Synapse 4.
Anything else
The file is not converted, and the table says which event and why. It never comes out with events quietly dropped.
Synapse 4 files
Recognized and left alone. The table tells you to import them as they are.

Limits

What the converter takes in one go

50 files, 5 MB
At a time. A usual macro is a few KB, so 5 MB is plenty for 50 of them. Got more? Convert, press Clear, pick the next ones.
.xml only
Other files in a folder are skipped and counted, they don't stop the rest.
UTF-8 or UTF-16
That's how Synapse 3 saves macros. A file re-saved in another encoding by a text editor gets an error.
120 files a minute
If you go faster, the Convert button waits a few seconds and carries on by itself.

Synapse 3 to 4 Converter FAQ

Short answers to the questions people ask most

Why don't Synapse 3 macros open in Synapse 4?

Synapse 4 saves macros in a different XML format and doesn't read the old one. The converter rewrites every event into the Synapse 4 format, so the file imports like a macro made in Synapse 4.

Can't I just use Profile Migration in Synapse 4?

It only works during the upgrade, on the PC that still has Synapse 3 and its data. It can't read exported .xml macros at all. And a lot of people on Razer Insider report macros that are broken or missing after the migration. If all you have left is the .xml files, or the migrated macros don't play right, convert them here.

Can I still install Synapse 3?

Not officially. Razer retired Synapse 3 in February 2026 and the installer is gone from its site. Users report that a fresh install no longer detects Razer devices.

Will the timings be the same?

Yes. Every delay and every mouse movement point keeps its time, and the total length of each movement is carried over. Play the macro once in Synapse 4 before you rely on it.

What about keyboard macros?

They are converted too, key presses and releases with their delays. The table adds a note to check them in Synapse 4 once before you use them.

What if a file fails?

The table shows the reason, usually with the number of the event that stopped it. Such a file is not converted half-way, so you never get a macro with events quietly missing. If you think the file is fine, write to me at contact@csbepro.com.

Is the converter free?

Yes. No sign-up, no account. Up to 50 files and 5 MB at a time, as many rounds as you need.
